Description: Swedish bladesmith Andre Andersson has an eye for design rarely found in other maker's work. The Damascus blade has a central core of 20C, resulting in a high performance edge with superior edge holding. Borrowing the san mai technique from high end Japanese knives, Andre has surrounded the 20C care with layers of wrought iron and nickel, resulting in a very dramatic, high performance blade. A central 'blood groove' adds tremendous interest. Andre found inspiration for his blade guard from the Japanese habaki.
The stacked handle has a central section of exhibition grade bark mammoth ivory. Blue, green and caramel tones move throughout the ivory. Sections of snakewood bring in warmth and a nice contrast. The pommel is formed from a section of side-cut mammoth ivory and is capped of with an antiqued copper cap. The copper throughout the knife results in an ancient appearance.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
