Description: Master Smith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to best understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. This knife was made by Henry back in the spring of 2006 and has been in a private collection. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, Henry could have made it yesterday!
Following the methods developed by Mastersmiths Bill Burke and Ed Fowler, the blade was hand forged at low temperatures, assuring a smooth grain structure is knife. A triple quench and triple temper create some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere. The spine has been hammer finished, which is an elegant and dramatic feature.
Thin spacers at the front of the handle assist it to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. Alternating black fiber and nickel silver spaces surround hand fileworked copper. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. A thick sheep horn spacer at the front of the handle is created by taking two sheep horn end cuts and aligning them outward, producing a very pleasing effect.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
