Description: Michael, who was honored as a Journeyman Smith in June 2006 has a style all of his own. His work combines an aesthetic drawn from Medieval and Far East influences.
This wharncliffe style 'bowie' was hand forged from 52100 carbon steel. 52100 is considered by many knifemakers and collectors to be among the best -- if not the best -- carbon steels for edge holding.
The handle is formed from black and maple burl. The dark tones in the walnut nicely highlights the darker tones in the maple. Michael's superior woodworking is a hallmark of his style. The woods are meticulously combined in complex arches -- with the seams nearly beyond perception. Exceptional work throughout.
