Description: Coming back from the Blade show with journeyman smith test knives is one of my great highlights of the year. Five knives were made by each applicant that are the height of their work. These knives were judged by ABS Mastersmiths on fit and finish, as well as general artistry. The standards are exacting. The knives that a prospective Journeyman puts forward for testing are among the masterpieces of their career -- knowing that masters will be examining their work, the maker often puts many times the attention and time than they would generally do for their knives. This Bowie was one of the five knives that Henry selected as the best of his work for judging by the masters. As you would expect, Henry has paid attention to every detail.
The 1084 carbon steel blade has been forged to shape and was given a meticulous hand satin finish. A differential heat treatment is visible in the hardening line. This transition point results in a strong, supportive spine with an ultra hard, long lasting cutting edge.
The guard and "liners" are formed from nickel silver. Exhibition grade desert ironwood scales are set with six nickel silver pins and have tremendous swirling grain structure. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
