Description: Bill Burke, who was honored as a journeyman smith June 2003, makes knives that are as high performance as hunters can get. Each knife is pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. The heat treatment follows the formulas developed by Ed Fowler, Bill's teacher, and has been proven to create some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere.
This Pronghorn Hunter features an especially thick blade -- measuring .29 inches. This results in a very substantial feel in the hand. The 52100 blade was hand forged, with a triple quench and triple temper and shows off the wootz-like grain structure that has made this style of blade famous..
When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable, making it an ideal handle material. The front spacer is created by taking two sheep horn end cuts and aligning them outward, producing a very pleasing effect. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
