Description: This exceptional Mediterranean dirk dagger is the sole authorship work of Mastersmith Kevin Harvey. The blade was forged from carbon steel into a highly complex mosaic Damascus pattern. By gun gluing the blade, Kevin has created deep purples, reds, greens and golds in the steel. Gun bluing results in a stronger oxide layer than typical heat bluing. A deep fuller travels up the left hand side of the blade and moves into a chisel ground clip. The blade is finished off with a dramatic Spanish notch.
Kevin went to the GRS school for engraving early in the summer of 2004 and has been incorporating his own engraving in many of his knives since then. The result is exceptional. Here, the mild steel ferrule and pommel have both been engraved and inlaid with fine silver. This surrounds the meticulously hand fluted hippo tusk handle. At the base of the handle is a stable check that was inherent to the tusk and became visible as Kevin sculpted the handle.
Exceptional work throughout, as I have come to expect from Kevin. Accompanied by certificate from the maker.
