Description: Mardi Meshejian's work has a tremendous impact, in part due to his unique fusion of cultural designs, but also deriving from the paring of fossil materials with modern ones.
Fossil tip features an upswept Damascus blade with a random pattern Damascus. The spine has been fileworked. A copper habaki (blade protector) brings in the influence of Japanese swordsmiths. The titanium guard has been anodized to a deep iridescent purple and seamlessly meets up with the fossil walrus artifact handle. In mid 1800s, Alaskan natives formed fossil walrus ivory into various tools, from harpoon tips to fishing weights, to fire starters. This walrus tip was such a piece and shows the tooling marks on the back. The ivory has rich caramel and cream tones. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
