Description: Coming back from the Blade show with mastersmith test knives is one of my great highlights of the year. In 2003, nine new mastersmiths joined the ranks. Five knives were made by each applicant that are the height of their work. These knives were judged by ABS Mastersmiths on fit and finish, as well as general artistry. The standards are exacting. This mountain man folder was one of the five knives that Heather selected as the best of her work for judging by the masters. Kevin and Heather Harvey became the first husband and wife team of ABS Mastersmiths.
Primitive folders are one of Heather's specialties. This sole authorship piece features Flames pattern mosaic Damascus forged from carbon steel with a stag antler handle. The Damascus steel spring is ornamented with a nickel silver fleur de lis saddle and copper flowers. The iron ring can be used to hang the knife and is also the lock release. The butt features a Rhodesian penny from 1942. On each side of the bolster are Southern Rhodesian "tickies" from 1947.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
