Description: Anders is well known for making knives with extremely tight tolerances and a perfect fit. The design is enticing and creates a very solid feel in the hand. The California buckeye handle has a very dramatic appearance with a swirling grain structure. Buckeye is unique in that the exposed wood takes on a grey tone. Here, Anders has allowed the wood to naturally discolor to a full gray, resulting in a very dramatic handle. The hamon (temper lines) created by Anders' clay heat treat process makes a knife that has excellent edge retention, while also having the support of a softer central core. The hamon is created by the differential hardness of the blade.
