Description: The team of Tom Sterling and JP Higgins is a formidable force. Joe Higgins, who has been flint knapping knives for over 10 years, created the blade of this masterpiece with precision. This skill is matched in the detailed handle created by Tom Sterling, who has brought his attention to detail learned as an internationally known netsuke artist to this piece.
The pyrographed and polychromed maple handle is brought to detail, depicting a very lifelike mayfly on the front and a "Hornberg" fly (as in fly fishing) on the obverse. Designed along the lines of the traditional bird and trout cleaning knives, the trout is represented by the Hornberg fly and mayfly carving, and the bird is represented by the feathers on the fly. All carving in done in the highly detailed Japanese netsuke tradition brought to this team by Tom Sterling. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
