Description: Fine silver inlay and nickel silver escutcheons add a deep sense of elegance to this hunter. The apple seed grind that is a hallmark of Jay's hand forged blades and differentially hardened blade will maintain an excellent edge through extended use.
This elegant hunter was made by Mastersmith Jay Hendrickson back in 2000. It have been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It is in new condition.
The handle is sculpted from fine curly maple. A nickel silver filed guard and matching pommel surround the wood. Fine silver vines are inlaid into the wood, surrounding and radiating from the nickel silver escutcheon. The handle swells at both sides and at the palm, ensuring a perfect grip.
The blade was forged to shape from 5160 carbon steel. A dramatic heat treatment line travels along the center of the knife, showing the transition between the soft, supportive spine and the ultra-hard, keen cutting edge.
The knife is accompanied by a leather belt sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
