Description: Iowa knifemaker Mike Zscherny has beeen making knives since 1978 and is a full time maker. He is a very well known maker and specializes in slipjoint and linerlock folders. His knives have exquisite fit and finish. It is no surprise, that his wait list has become exceptionally long. This compact kwaiken fixed blade is a rare find from Zcherny. It was kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in brand new condition and by all appearances, it could have been made yesterday!
The upswept tanto blade is hand ground CPM-154 stainless steel with a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. The blade is hollow ground for a razor sharp and easy to maintain edge. The spine is nicely rounded for a comfortable thumb purchase. Zscherny's touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
Amber dyed jigged bone handle scales are secured to the distal tapered full tang using four pins. The contoured scales feel great in your hand and offer a solid grip. The scales are heirloom fit to satin finished 416 stainless steel bolsters. By using an heirloom fit, Mike ensures even if the scales shrink over time there will be no sharp corners from the bolsters.
Exceptional work throughout!
