Description: Roger Bergh's work is in a class of its own. His control over damascus and his skill at combining exotic materials set him apart as an artist. This stunning sword combines an elegant damascus blade with a combination of beautiful materials that is a perfect example of why Roger is so well reguarded. This sword was in a private collection and is in brand new condition. By all appearances, Roger could have made it yesterday!
The massive 15-1/3 inch blade was forged from Roger's own multi-bar damascus, combining carbon steel to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. A central bar of pool and eye damascus is surrounded by bars of twist damascus on each side. Finally, a firecracker pattern damascus egdge and spine bar complete the blade. This combination of complex damascus is combined with a hand sculpted blade, easily placing this as one of the most dramatic blades I have ever seen!
The handle combines African blackwood with fine silver and damascus accents. The silverwork was done by SaraMi, Roger's partner. The differentially finished silver combines areas that are polished and others that are antiqued and textured. Like the blade, The handle is truly majestic.
As you would expect from Roger, the matching sheath is also spectacular. Like the handle, it combines antiqued and textured pure silver with carved and textured African Blackwood. Windows in the sheath allow the blade to be seen when stored within.
Quite simply, the pictures can't do this Short Sword justice.
