Description: South African knifemaker Hennie du Plessis creates an exceptional knife. This hunter shows his tremendous attention to all the details. The fit and finish is impeccable, providing an excellent showcase of exotic materials.
The 4 inch drop point blade is forged from damascus combining high carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The blade is deeply etched to reveal the pattern while the sides are mirror polished and gun blacked for high contrast. Ceramic ball bearings are inlaid into the spine to provide a positive thumb purchase. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain cutting edge.
Handle scales are stabilized presentation grade poplar burl. They are set on a full tang for strength and durability. The gently rounded handle feels sturdy and fills your hand perfectly. By using torx screws, Hennie ensures the knife can be taken apart if future repairs are ever needed. The scales are dovetail fit to the bolsters ensuring there will be no sharp corners, even if the wood shrinks over decades. The mosaic damascus bolsters were forged by Mastersmith Heather Harvey. Regrettably, Heather has retired from knifemaking.
To keep the knife close at hand, a tooled leather sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
