Description: Mastersmith Scott Gallagher makes an exceptional knife. I was very excited when Mastersmith Bill Burke introduced me to Scott at the 2019 Blade Show in Atlanta. Over the years, his work has continued to develop. Scott achieved the coveted Master Smith title with the American Blade Society in April of 2021. Gallagher's attention to detail is immediately visible in his exquisite knives.
The blade is hand forged W2 carbon steel. A differential clay zone heat treatment combines superior strength with a keen, long lasting edge. Gallagher borrowed his heat treatment technique from the world of Japanese swords. The elegant heat treatment line is visible as it travels across the blade. The blade features a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish.
The handle is Tasmanian blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon). This dramatic wood is an Acacia species native in south eastern Australia. It has a dramatic figure similar to curly koa, combined with excellent stability. The handle is fit to an antiqued 416 stainless steel guard with a coined central spacer.
To keep the knife close at hand, a textured pouch style leather custom sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
