The Gold Mini was designed by Jared Van Otterloo (JVO). This smaller version of the Gold Standard has a 2-3/4 inch blade -- easily capable of getting any task done -- yet the compact size makes it tremendously carry-friendly. The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The raised clip point blade is N690 stainless steel, created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. By differentially finishing the blade, JD has emphasized his clean grind lines.
The scales are contoured and hand fluted carbon fiber. A terraced, anodized titanium pivot ring surrounds the titanium pivot. Blue anodized titanium liners and a carbon fiber backbar keep the knife light, yet strong. The blackened titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
