Description: This slender hunting knife was created by Washington bladesmith Bill Amoureux in the spring of 2005. It has been in a private collection and is in new condition. By all appearances, Amoureux could have made it yesterday. Regrettably, Bill passed away in December 2021.
The blade was forged from A2 semi-stainless tool steel and has an elegant distal taper, resulting in perfect balance. 5% chromium gives A2 some rust resistance, though it still should be dried off after use to avoid oxidation and rust. It was differentially heat treated and hollow ground for easy maintenance. The spine was hand fileworked for a sure thumb purchase.
Ancient walrus ivory handle scales meet perfectly with fluted nickel silver bolsters. The handle is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched pouch style leather sheath.
Excellent work throughout.
